The ASPLUND Carpet collection was born out of a dream to follow our concept also into carpets. A mix of international and Swedish traditions and at the same time blend old techniques with modern patterns for a fresh, contemporary style.
The ASPLUND Carpet Collection was born out of a dream to follow our concept and expand our existing collection with a high quality carpet range. A mix of international and Swedish traditions and, at the same time, using old techniques combined with modern patterns and design for a contemporary style.
We like our carpets to be stylish and durable enough to be passed on for generations and therefore only the finest materials and techniques are good enough. A high quality carpet is easier to maintain and will last through the different periods of life. Our carpets are woven, knotted or tufted by hand and by skilled craftsmen. Handcrafting makes each rug unique, like a piece of art. We use superior quality New Zealand wool as primary material. The wool is rich in natural fats that give the carpets a beautiful luster while also providing good protection against stains. We also combine our wool with Tencel in some of our designs, for a characteristic look and feel.
The first carpets we produced were unique pieces made together with Swedish artists and designers. Followed by a higher demand we developed several new carpet icons like the Crux, the Convex and the ”O”, just to mention a few. We collaborate with international as well as Swedish designers such as Marc Newson, Piero Lissoni, Tom Dixon, Thomas Sandell, Jonas Bohlin, Claesson Koivisto Rune and Broberg & Ridderstråle.
HAND MADE AND FAIR TRADE
We have been producing our beautiful carpets working with the same family-owned factory in Mirzapur, India for over 25 years. It is a factory that deeply cares for its employees and their families. Here everything is made by hand; From the wool dyed and then tufted, knotted or woven by hand into beautiful carpets using the finest yarns and techniques. They are crafted from sustainable natural fiber and we proudly embrace Fair Trade practices. The factory is socially engaged, against child labor and pro education. All purchases benefit local schools in our weavers’ villages and the yarn leftovers is used to make warm vests for homeless children in the colder parts of India.
If you are on the lookout for something truly unique, our carpets can be custom made to suit your individual preference. We are happy to adjust the shapes, sizes, patterns and colours of our designs to complement your home, office or public space.
