Star Carpet is a handwoven dhurrie rug in 100% natural wool designed by Emma Olbers for ASPLUND Carpets. Olbers’ idea was to produce a rug with a classic geometric pattern reminiscent of Mediterranean tiles. The color scheme is soft with a base in rye or gray and a hand-embroidered pattern in white and black indigo. As the wool is natural and undyed, color variations may occur.

Emma Olbers is a Swedish designer from Gothenburg who has made several rugs in collaboration with ASPLUND. Her goal is to produce products with a strength in every necessary aspect, without losing the environmental mindset. She is therefore extremely meticulous in her choice of materials, while at the same time, with well-thought-out design and creative ideas, she manages to create incredibly beautiful furniture time and time again.

At the age of 20, Emma moved to Stockholm to start Nyckelviksskolan for a one-year craft training and immediately after she started the design line at Beckmans Design School. After Beckmans, she started her own studio in 1999 on Södermalm in Stockholm and has since worked with everything from start-up furniture manufacturers to well-established companies. Since Emma is always involved in the entire process, from drawing to finished product, she herself ensures that her furniture achieves the sustainability and life cycle that her environmentally friendly philosophy requires. It is not uncommon for her to succeed in creating a piece of furniture that is not only beautiful and contemporary, but also stays down to earth.
